The group dynamics of partner meetings add fuel to the fire, frequently resulting in a deep sense of frustration.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"581\">But it doesn\u2019t have to be this way.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"1137\">We initiate and support transformation processes that arise from economic, organizational, or social factors. And we position ourselves as <strong data-start=\"1036\" data-end=\"1073\">advocates for the common interest<\/strong>: only what benefits the whole will ultimately benefit everyone.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1139\" data-end=\"1302\">This approach changes both the <strong data-start=\"1170\" data-end=\"1198\">culture of collaboration<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1207\" data-end=\"1234\">decision-making ability<\/strong> within the partnership. In the end, everyone benefits economically.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1304\" data-end=\"1307\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1377\"><strong data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1377\">Change Lexicon, Entry No. 1: What Does \u201cChange\u201d Really Mean?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1464\">We\u2019re often asked what exactly we mean by \u201cchange\u201d and what it implies for law firms.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1466\" data-end=\"1803\">Our view: <strong data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1509\">Change is a learning process.<\/strong><br data-start=\"1509\" data-end=\"1512\" \/>Change occurs when something new is done, or something is done differently. That means entering unknown territory and being open to the unfamiliar. Successful change requires a willingness to learn, the active use of that willingness, and the ability to translate learning into new behavior.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1841\">This is not to be taken for granted.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1843\" data-end=\"2180\">Effective change processes are characterized by the ability to awaken curiosity, encourage learning, enable that learning (always on a voluntary basis), and finally, make it possible to apply that learning through new actions. In short: <strong data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2140\">successful change means behaving differently than before<\/strong>\u2014for both individuals and organizations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2182\" data-end=\"2491\">Organizations like law firms must revise their ingrained routines\u2014exchanging the security of the known for the uncertainty of the new.
